In addition, Gretchen is Owner/Director of Gretchen Productions, a Fashion
Show Production Company specializing in large theatrical presentations which include professional models, lighting, sound, commentary, special effects and entertainment. Clients include malls, corporations and National Charities. Her shows have appeared throughout the South West. 1979 - present
Gretchen’s extensive training in dance and theatre led to a professional career a a
dancer / choreographer, as well as a model and fashion coordinator. She was a dance
major and drama minor at Cal Western University and San Diego State University.
She was Artistic Director of the SD Dance Theatre 1978 - 1979
She directed her own performing jazz dance company, Dancemania 1980 - 1985
She was a professional model for 15 years in Southern California.
She was Fashion Editor of San Diego Décor & Style Magazine. 1997 - 2002
She has taught Jazz Dance in Community Colleges, as well as her own studio, in
conjunction with runway modeling classes.
She also taught Fashion Promotion at San Diego Mesa College 2000 - 2002
Gretchen is a Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, who for 20 years specialized in
teaching infants to swim.
Non-profit
Gretchen Burns Bergman is Executive Director and Co-Founder of A New PATH
(Parents for Addiction Treatment & Healing), a non-profit organization of parents,
concerned citizens and community leaders working together to promote better
understanding of and treatment for the disease of addiction. Founding members
are all parents of offspring whose lives have been devastated by the disease of
addiction. Gretchen’s two sons are recovering heroin addicts. PATH’s goal is to
reduce crime and recidivism, save lives, heal families and move toward a healthier
society. 1999 -present

Gretchen served as State Chairwoman for Proposition 36, which was passed by
California voters in November, 2000, mandating treatment instead of incarceration
for non-violent drug offenders. 1999 -2000
A prolific writer, her articles about the effects of Substance Abuse to families and
society have appeared in the San Diego Union Tribune, The LA Times, and the
California Psychiatric Association newsletter. 1999 - present
A frequent speaker, she has appeared before audiences in San Diego, Sacramento,
San Francisco, and before the American Psychiatric Association in Philadelphia.

She has been featured on National TV (Nightline) and Rolling Stone Magazine, as

In 2010 she started a national campaign for A New PATH called Moms United to End the War on Drugs. She is the lead organizer.

Gretchen is a native of San Diego County. She has two grown sons from a previous marriage. She and her husband Dr. David Bergman reside in Rancho Santa Fe.
